The Social Dilemma: watch it before its too late.

Biggest myth of 21st century - 

"We are operating social media, actually we are being operated by social media."

After "THE GREAT HACK" netflix has come up with another creditable masterpiece "The Social Dilemma". The storyline of both of these documentary is based on the usage of social media where the former speaks of the cambridge analytica scandal while the latter comprehensively connects every bits and pieces of our life in relation to social media. The engineer of these giant tech companies has come forward to tell the world that what is really happening behind big big panes of those huge skyscrapers.

First of all don't think that I am ranting about the overusage or addiction of  social media and sidelining its benefits. I am just trying to show that how much detrimental this social media can be. In this documentary it is explicity showed and told that how we are falling prey to these so called the best invention of 21st century.

Even the engineers who had given their day and nights to work in these offices are not completely aware of the proper functioning of the algorithms that are used for these systems. The gigantic fields and rooms that are filled with just zillions of supercomputers who uses different algorithms to give you the news feed as you prefer or recommend you a video on youtube. The AI ,which we brags about , that will change our life ,had already started to change in a way worse than we can imagine. These computer have piles of data about us and they can create an exact model of us which helps them in predicting our future action, if required. 

The best line of this documentary " If you don't pay for your product, then you are the product". I would emphasize that read the previous line once more and just imagine how much weight these words carry. It is true that growth of these tech giants is nothing but a series of psychological experiments that they run on our very vulnerable minds. They just want to supplant that convival things that we have within our gatherings with the isolated(sophisticated)  and self-centric world which is leading to violence, polarisation, riots and what not.

The ultimate goal of these cooperations is just to add more profits in their pocket while keeping aside the ethics and moral conduct. They are just attracting our attention on these virtually created realistic world to make us spend more time on watching the ads  which is generating them revenue and we are helping these billionares to add more. The term that I came across "snapchat dysmorphia" which is a new syndrome among children who asks plastic surgeons to make them look as they look in their snap filters. So, I think you understand the intensity of this catastropic situation that we are in, moreover how much susceptible it is to our younger generation.

After all this, I was flabbergasted and thought that everyone should watch this film and also encourage other to have a look at it. The magnum opus is when we all are aware that it is really a great threat, as a handful of people in these companies are deciding the psychology of 7 billion ,which is an unprecednted event in history of mankind. I would say that "the thing which was made to connect us, is actually driving us apart".

The graphics and scenes in film of teenager and their addiction to social media is pictured brilliantly including the fight on dinner table due to cell phone or confistication of them. The engineers had given a lot of input about the inner functioning of these tech-giants which is helping us to know more about their functioning and we should collectively come forward to force our government to have regulations for our digital privacy before it erodes the basics of humanity leading to a person which is running on some kind of algorithm.

I will again it say, please watch it and don't be oblivious to these things in a state of omniscience because it affects your life too brother.
