Hidden Gem

Plight of women and its implications on their physical and psychological frame had pertubed all of us. The trauma that a woman faces is something that we males had never imagined. Their day-to-day work isn't given any venerable status, which is nothing more than a normal routine work while lying at home. So, this horrific situation, I think, has been put forth, brilliantly, by this Malayalam movie: THE GREAT INDIAN KITCHEN. 

Although, the movie was in Malayalam but with english subtitles you can watch because acting and content will hook you up on the screen. Most importantly, you will connect every single scene in your life which you must have done or seen. Whether be it the acting of male or female you are going to feel it, you might have some tears as well. The sequence and its projection has been beautifully presented with an outstanding direction.

The movie is primarily based on the lifestyle of Indians in the southern part but the trauma that a lady faces when she gets married can be felt by everyone. There will be number of instances when you would be willing to jump into the screen and save that lady, at the same time you will think that have I done same things with my parents or siblings or wife(if you have)? Point to be pondered over is that, a lady which is always considered as sacred is the most exploited human creature. The taunts of family, with a smiling face, is the most pathetic assault a woman faces, which is very beautifully shown.

We all have sabrimala judgement fresh in our memory and the turmoil in its aftermath. There was an article which showed the women holding candle march against this judgement. Ofcourse, the beliefs of people should never be questioned but this movie had shown something behind the Sabrimala's vow. There are many rituals which are to be performed since the day men take the vow and movie had shown that women should not be seen by the men(who is going to sabrimala) till his vow is over. She has to confine herself, not to touch anything, not to sleep on bed, etc. Moreover,same is case with woman when she has periods. I was dumbfounded when I saw these scene. Means, totally dumbfoubded.

The work of Director,Joe Baby, is absolutely commendable as well as the cinematography. Totally deserve a watch and you will feel the change in yourself by the end of the movie.
